This study aimed to investigate the relationship between the aromaticity and the number of PAH compounds with quantum interference and to explore their electric and thermal properties for potential applications in molecular electronics.

Five molecules of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons were linked to gold electrodes from both ends in multiple binding locations, where even-even and odd-odd numbers indicate destructive quantum interference, while even-odd numbers indicate constructive quantum interference according to the product rule. However, when doped with two sulfur and oxygen atoms, there was a shift in some cases from constructive interference to destructive interference. The electrical and thermal properties of all molecules in this thesis were calculated and compared with the experimental results, where there was a great agreement between the theoretical and experimental study.
