This study focuses on the fabrication of a gas sensor using bilayer nanostructures-thin films of cadmium oxide (CdO) coated with niobium oxide (Nb2O5) and palladium oxide (PdO) via thermal vacuum evaporation under vacuum. The research investigates the impact of upper layer of Nb2O5 or PdO on sensor characteristics.

This work provides valuable insights into the fabrication, characterization, and gas sensing performance of bilayer nano-thin films, opining the way for advancements in the development of highly sensitive gas sensors for practical applications employing the n-n and p-n junction formed between the deposited layer and the CdO thin film. The findings contribute to the understanding of the underlying mechanisms governing the sensor's response to different gases, providing a foundation for future research in the field of gas sensing technology.
