Participation in the chairmanship and membership of a discussion committee

Within the scientific activities and events of the researchers of the Upper Euphrates Basin Development Center, Prof. Dr. Isam Muhammed Abduh Hameed, as chairman, and Prof. Dr. Ammar Hatem Kamel, as a member, participated in the scientific committee formed to discuss the master's student in water resources engineering (Muhammad Hammad Dakhil), which took place last week at the University of Anbar - College of Engineering - Department of Dams and Water Resources Engineering, for his thesis tagged:

{Micro Gravitational Water Vortex Turbines used for Electricity Generation in Open Channels: Experimental and Numerical Study}

The study presented by the student aims to try to clarify the benefits of relying on small power plants that can be built on rivers, irrigation channels and streams of water processing units.

The study dealt with: The most important main variables affecting the performance of small eddy water turbines used on riverbeds in remote areas.

The results of the study showed that small vortex water turbines can generate electricity from a low water charge of (3_0.7) meters. The results also showed that increasing the speed of water entry into a multi-stage and single-stage turbine increases the rotational speed and thus increases the efficiency to a maximum value and then decreases due to the decrease in torque. The results showed that the efficiency of the multistage turbine is 54.48% higher than the single-stage turbine which reached 45.9%.

After extensive discussion by the discussion committee with the student, the thesis was accepted with a complete grade.
