Researchers from the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre participate in the second meeting at the Anbar Environment Directorate

On Wednesday, 26/6/2024, researchers from the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre participated in the second meeting at the Anbar Environment Directorate, to discuss the criteria for establishing nature reserves in Anbar Governorate. The Centre was represented at the meeting by:

1       Assistant Professor Dr. Moneer Naji Ahmed

2       Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Jassam Mekhlif.

The meeting concluded by identifying the best three candidate sites for the establishment of nature reserves in the governorate out of 9 sites based on specific criteria, and the strengths and weaknesses will be studied through these sites to choose the optimal site for the establishment of a nature reserve with the aim of establishing biological diversity suitable for climatic conditions in that region, taking into account the quality of the soil, the depth and quality of groundwater, and the best possible use of precipitation water during the rainy season, relying mainly on renewable energy based on solar radiation and the presence of animals as well as rare and remote range from paved roads and services.
