In support of ongoing collaboration with the Malaysian universities and as part of the university's strategic plan to establish communication channels with them in a way that benefits our institution academically and scientifically, the president of the university, Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Talib Saleh Al-Nada, visited the Malaysian Embassy in Baghdad where he met with the Chargé d'Affaires, Mr. Mohamad Shahir Sabarudin, to expand diplomatic communication channels. The meeting was attended by a representative from the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Director of the Department of Scholarships and Relations at the University Presidency.
The president of university outlined the important steps that the University of Anbar has taken, including signing significant memorandums of understanding with Malaysian universities such as USM, UKM, and UITM. He also discussed the university's plan to activate these agreements, as well as the upcoming steps, which include signing memorandums of understanding with UPM, UUM, and UISM, for which the approval of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research has been obtained. He further explained that the University of Anbar occupies the forefront in Iraq in terms of international collaborative research, especially with the Malaysian universities. The university aims at increasing this percentage by involving visiting professors from Malaysian universities at the University of Anbar and enhancing joint research teams between the University of Anbar and Malaysian universities.
In a related context, the Chargé d'Affaires expressed his happiness and gratitude for this visit, noting that the University of Anbar is one of the first Iraqi universities to undertake such an effort. He emphasized the university's commitment to strengthening and solidifying the relationship between the University of Anbar and Malaysian Universities. He further highlighted that the embassy would play a pivotal role in consolidating these relations. The president of the university also extended an invitation to the Chargé d'Affaires to visit the University of Anbar after obtaining the necessary approvals from both parties.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the president of the university presented the university of Anbar's shield to the Chargé d'Affaires, explaining to him some of the archaeological, cultural, and historical symbols of Anbar Province, and expressing the university's delight in hosting him in the near future.
