Upper Euphrates Basin Development Center holds a Meeting and Discusses a Number of Important Topics

The Board of Directors of the Upper Euphrates Basin Development Center held its periodic meeting, the third session for the academic year 2020-2021, headed by the Director of the Center, Professor Dr. Essam Mohammad Abdul Hamid and the presence of the members of the Board of Directors. During the meeting, the mechanism of cooperation between the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Center and the Prince Sultan Institute for Environment, Water and Desert Research of King Saud University in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The meeting came out with several issues, namely, the establishment of Integrated Renewable Energy Farms (IREF) near water bodies.  Habbaniyah lake, Tharthar lake, Haditha lake and water harvesting dams on valleys are nominated for this purpose. The project includes the construction of forests (green zone and the establishment of a living village that includes residential complexes that rely on renewable energy as well as the construction of farms for breeding wild and domestic animals, wind and solar energy units and bio-energy units, urban water harvesting units, and water recycling units, as well as investing in the establishment of a plant to produce solar panels to employ manpower and provide the required panels at reasonable prices.
