Expected weather and pollution rates in Iraq for the next ten days


The Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre – University of Anbar declared its weather forecast for (10) days hopefully, starting from Tuesday, 16/7/2024 until Friday, 26/7/2024, and Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Jassam Mukhlif, a climate expert in the Natural Resources Development Department at the Centre, stated:

1-    Ultraviolet rays: It is noted that the quality of ultraviolet rays is also moderate in general Iraq throughout the next 10 days, its value ranges in (H-Index) in terms of risk level between (5 to10).

2-    Solar radiation: The amount of solar radiation for Tuesday, 16/7/2024 in Iraq ranges between 950 – 1000 watts/m2 as shown in the map.

3-    Temperature: With the permission of Allah Almighty, a slight moderation in the summer temperature during the next (10) days.

4-    Atmospheric pressure: It controls the Iraq of the extensions of the Indian seasonal thermal atmosphere. The slight temperature moderation is due to the pumping of cold air in the upper weather layers.

5-    Wind: in terms of direction and speed - the wind is north-westerly to north-westerly, moderate in speed, ranging from 25-36 km/h.

As for the levels of pollution in the air, they are as follows:

1-    Carbon monoxide (CO): Moderate in general and the highest values recorded in Baghdad and Erbil range between 450 – 600 μg/m³.

2-    Nitrogen dioxide (NO2): Moderate in general and the highest values recorded in Baghdad ranging between 40 – 60 μg/m³.

3-    Sulphur dioxide (SO2): Generally moderate and highest values in the eastern parts of the country, south of Baghdad and northern Tikrit recorded the highest values between 110 – 130 μg/m³.
