 Installation of an atmospheric station in Haditha


Within the plans of the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre at the University of Anbar, in implementation of the university's strategic plan to achieve the goals of sustainable development and Vision 2030, the personnel of the Planning and Databases Department at the Centre, represented by Dr. Atheer Salim Al-Mawla, and Mr. Ahmed Ismail, and in coordination with the members of the Centre at the terminal station in Haditha, completed the installation of an advanced weather station to measure and record weather forecast data and establish solid databases to monitor and control climate change and benefit from it in future studies on hydrological modelling and resource management. Water and other environmental studies, where the station was installed and an integrated development course was organized for the terminal station’s staff on how to operate and install the station, as well as collecting and saving data in databases.

Dr. Atheer Salim Al-Mawla and Mr. Ahmed Ismail also visited the management of the Haditha Dam, and met with Engineer Ali Saleh Shalal, Director of the Dam, to open horizons of cooperation between the Centre and the Dam management and to identify the most important problems and obstacles that can be identified and solved by activating joint cooperation mechanisms.
