The Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre - University of Anbar announced the weather update for Friday, 5/1/2024, according to Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Jassam Mikhlif, a climate expert in the Department of Natural Resources Development, the impact of the medium-effective Mediterranean depression and rainfall in the northern part of Iraq continues in (Mosul, Dohuk, Erbil and Sulaimaniyah), which will contribute to enhancing the water storage in the dams in these governorates, in addition to enhancing the discharges and water levels in the Tigris River The upper Zab, most of whose sources are located on the Iraqi-Turkish border in Erbil Governorate, contributes to the largest part (there is no dam on this tributary) in addition to the releases of the Mosul Dam in the discharges of the Tigris River column, while the central and southern region are far from the effects of this depression.

Temperature:

Related to temperature, the moderation of the minimum temperatures in the northern parts of Iraq due to the release of latent heat after rain and the rush of the cold wave, especially in the northern part of the country, as a rise in the minimum temperature is observed by a difference of 5 degrees Celsius, and (2) degrees Celsius in the central and southern sections of the country, which are as follows:
