In implementation of the directives of the University Presidency to activate the role of research Centres and partnership with national research, scientific and executive institutions through constructive cooperation to find solutions to various problems that have a direct relationship with society, especially those related to water and the environment, a delegation from the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre at University of Anbar visited the National Centre for Water Resources Management of the Iraqi Ministry of Water Resources.

The delegation, which included Prof. Dr. Ammar Hatem Kamel, Director of the Centre, Dr. Ahmed Saud Mohamed, Head of the Planning and Databases Department, and Dr. Saleh Mahmoud Saleh, a researcher in the Department of Natural Resources Development, met with Eng. Hatem Hamid Hussein, Director General of the Centre. During the meeting, which was attended by Dr. Ibrahim Al-Ani, a researcher at the National Research Cooperation Centre, the most important cases and problems related to the issue of water resources management were discussed, where it was agreed to form joint research teams to study seven topics related to dams and regulators on the Euphrates River and the quality of the Euphrates River water, in addition to water harvesting projects and river hydrology.

During the meeting, it was also agreed to actively participate in the scientific activities of the two Centres such as workshops, scientific seminars, scientific evaluation of research and data exchange, in addition to scientific publishing and support for the periodic scientific journal issued by the Centre. The two sides agreed to activate the procedures for concluding a memorandum of scientific cooperation between the two Centres while providing the National Centre with the most important research and studies proposed by researchers at the Upper Euphrates Basin Development Centre for the purpose of exchanging ideas and putting them into practice.

On the sidelines of the visit, the delegation also met with the expert and member of the Iraqi negotiating delegation with the Turkish side, Mr. Hassan Mahdi Al-Saffar, where he listened to a detailed explanation about the role of Turkish dams and their impact on Iraq's water revenues. Where he was invited to give a lecture on the subject at the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre, and the expert expressed his happiness and welcome this invitation.
