Monitoring of new floods in a number of valleys in the western region

In continuation of the efforts of the Upper Euphrates Basin Development Center in monitoring and recording rain and torrential rains in the region to establish a solid database and support research and studies on the management and investment of water resources, below is a summary of rain and torrential rains for the days 26-12-2022 and 27-12-2022.

Engineer Ali Saleh from the Department of Resident Engineer of Small Dams in the Western Region indicated that a rainfall depth of 16 mm was recorded in the city of Rutba on the night of 26/27-12-2022, and no runoff rains were detected within Horan valley and Al-Massad valley in Al-Rutba.

While runoff rains were recorded in Al-Arjawi valley, which passes near the Al-Rahaliya area, which contributed to increasing the water storage in the Al-Rahaliya Dam, which has a storage capacity of four million cubic meters, where the water storage reached the design capacity (the level of the dam's water pathway).

As for the terminal station in Haditha, Engineer Juma'a Mohammed Ahmed, the station official, told us, although rain fell on the city of Haditha, it was in the form of single clouds on other areas and the station did not record any rainfall.

Floods were spotted in Jabab valley between the areas of Rawa and Obaidi, according to Mr. Omar Mahidi al-Rawi, who sent us a video of these floods.
