Under the generous patronage of the President of University of Anbar Prof. Dr Mushtak Taleb Al-Neda, established the Upper Euphrates Basin Development Center and the College of Education for Girls, in cooperation with the College of Engineering/ Dams and Water Resources Department and Desert Studies Center A scientific symposium on ((climate changes and their impact on water resources in Anbar Governorate)) in the discussion square in the Department of Dams and Water Resources in the presence of the Dean of the College of Engineering Prof. Dr. Ameer Abdul Rahman Hilal, an addition to a large and distinguished presence from various relevant authorities, represented by the Director General of Water Resources in Anbar governorate, the Director of the Irrigation and Drainage Projects Department in the governorate, and the advisors to the Governor of Anbar for Energy and Reconstruction Affairs, and The Deputy Director General of the National Center to manage the water resources and expert, Mr. Hassan Mahdi Al-Saffar, the expert in the center, the assistant director of the Environment Department, the official in charge of the Climate Change Department, representatives of the Department of Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring, representatives of the Department of Forestry and Combating Desertification, representatives of the Nuaimiya Forest Project, and the Director of the Regional Office of the German ASB organization in Iraq and Dijla agricultural Company, In addition to a large number of university professors and researchers.

lectures and research in the seminar focused on the effect of climate changes on water resources and the management of these resources in light of the scarcity and decreasing water revenues and the importance of databases and technology in discreet research and studies and the use of digital climate models for prediction with effects of climate change and the role of modern monitoring stations and networks in this field, which contributes to the formation of a clear vision for the decision-maker and the relevant authorities of water resources management including that the Iraqi negotiator with neighbouring countries to lay a solid integrated foundation to manage water resources and reduce the effects of climate change.

In an intervention by the President of the University, His Excellency welcomed the attendees and appreciated this great interest and effective attendance from various parties in the subject, confirming the university’s support and personal support for these events, research and studies related to water and the environment, and that they have a great priority in the university’s strategic plans, one of its most important components is community service and that the university is the scientific beacon and the main platform in gathering experts and researchers and academics and scholars to serve our country, Iraq, and to achieve a vision2030.

The lectures and discussions of the symposium concluded with many recommendations that were agreed upon by the majority of the attendees, which were welcomed by the decision makers to work on implementing them with the capabilities available to them.

At the end of the symposium, the President of the University presented gratitude certificates to the lecturers and members of the symposium management.
