The President of the University visits the terminal station of the Upper Euphrates Basin Development Center and the Haditha Dam project


As part of his visit to Haditha District for inauguration of a number of important projects in the College of Basic Education; within his continuous follow-up and support for the work of research centers, the Chairman of the University of Anbar Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Taleb Al-Neda accompanied by Prof. Dr. Ammar Hatem Kamel, Director of the Upper Euphrates Basin Development Center visited, the center's terminal station within the Haditha Dam complex. during his visit, he heard a detailed explanation of the most important works and activities of the station, represented in the periodic examination of water samples for the valleys that flow into the Euphrates River and coordination with the Haditha Dam Department to complete a database of the Euphrates River, in addition to the works of hydrological measurement stations for many valleys between Haditha Dam and the city of Hit. He sees also the laboratory of the station and directed to meet the needs of the station and prepare a detailed list for the rehabilitation of the station building within the Haditha Dam complex, He also directed to invest the valley that passes near the site of the station and establishing a site to measure surface water to study the possibility of establishing a water harvesting project that adds an aesthetic touch to the site and supports the University of Anbar project as a green oasis, in addition to supporting the water resources database.

          After concluding his visit to the terminal station, the head of the university and the delegation went to the Haditha Dam, the most important and largest water project on the Euphrates River. He met the director of the electrical station in the dam. He stressed the importance of integration between the university and state institutions because it is in the service of society, which is one of the university objectives and has put it among its priorities. The university should have the most prominent role in serving, developing and supporting the community of Anbar Governorate, and that is the mission and goal of the university within its strategic vision. He stressed that his visit and the specialized delegation accompanying him is to support this trend, as the attendees heard from the Director of the Upper Euphrates Basin Development Center a project of turbines for small power plants that depend on the velocity of the water stream and do not needs large water reservoir, which was prepared by a team from the center in cooperation with the Renewable Energy Research Center and the Department of Dams and Water Resources Engineering at the College of Engineering, Opening new horizons for scientific cooperation in the field of research, studies and databases related to hydropower. For his part, the station director expressed his great happiness with this visit and his high appreciation for this initiative, which expresses an important strategic view to support the integration of the university and state institutions.

At the end of the visit, Mr. President thanked the administration of the station for the kind reception and extends the invitation to the station staff to have a major role in the workshops and seminars held by the university in the fields of energy and the possibility of participating in lectures and special studies in the field of energy.
