With the help of Almighty Allah, the periodic meeting (the second session) of the Board of Directors of the Upper Euphrates Basin Development Center was held for the academic year 2021-2022, headed by the Director of the Center, Professor Dr. Ammar Hatem Kamel on Tuesday 29/3/2022, in the discussion room at the center. The council hosted the deputy Director of Water Resources in Anbar Province. During the meeting, the following issues were discussed:

1-      Proposal adjustment of vision, mission and goals of the center to ensure the achievement of the sustainable development goals approved and adopted by the United Nations, including Iraq according to the plans of University of Anbar in this field.

2-      Formation of a scientific committee for the center consisting of specialists and experts from within the university and advisors from state departments and its scientific and service institutions, with a description of the work of this committee and the preparation of its own form.

3-      Establishing a week for sustainable development that takes it upon itself to organize workshops for various disciplines concerned with achieving sustainable development goals, in cooperation with the Center of Strategic Studies, the departments of university presidency, and related colleges where workshops were proposed with the Legal Affairs Department in the Presidency of the University and the College of Administration and Economics and the Department of Quality Assurance and Academic Accreditation in the Presidency of the university, in addition to the College of Engineering.

4-      Printing the two editions of Houran Valley development and Haditha district databases books.

5-      Discussing the project of electric power generation turbines construction on Euphrates systems’ regulators in Anbar Governorate in cooperation with the Renewable Energy Research Center and the College of Engineering

6-      Establishment of a terminal station in the district of Anah, along with equipping it with a meteorological station.

7-      Suggesting the installation of a weather station in the district of Rutba and another in the district of Qaim.

8-      As part of the progressive of development projects with economic returns and providing job opportunities for the Upper Euphrates people, the development of factories or workshops was discussed to produce fertilizers (small projects), agreeing to submit a study in this regard, and inviting Dr. Hamad Muhammad Salih, an expert in the field of fertilizers, to hold a workshop on how to produce fertilizers in Anbar Governorate.

9-      Strengthening the center’s staff, and increasing the diversity of scientific and research specializations, especially in specializations of a developmental and economic nature such as management, economics, agriculture and engineering specializations.
