Discussion of a master's thesis for the student (Sarah Ismail Jiyad)

The public discussion of the master's thesis of the student (Sarah Ismail Jiyad) of the Department of Applied Geology - College of Science - University of Anbar took place on Tuesday, corresponding to 4/18/2023 in the Jaber Bin Hayan Hall for her thesis tagged: ((Re-location of earthquakes in Iraq to determine seismically active faults)) The study aims to identify seismically active faults in Iraq. A large seismic dataset from the Mesopotamian Network (MP) and the Iranian Seismological Center (IRSC) was analyzed to relocate earthquakes with a magnitude of (4 M) for the period between August 2014 to April 2021. The results showed that the use of seismic stations from MP and IRSC It enhances earthquake sites due to the good geographical distribution of the stations and the closest central distances. A fault map was drawn based on three previous fault maps. Tremors have been added to this map. The results of the study show that the external Arab platform is seismically active, while the internal Arab platform of Iraq is not seismically active After extensive discussion by the committee members with the student on the subject of her thesis, the thesis was accepted Congratulations to the student, the College of Science and the discussion committee
