((Risk of subclinical hyperthyroidism in pregnant women with asymptomatic autoimmune thyroid disorders ))

The aim of the study is to determine the role of the thyroid disorder in pregnant women who suffer from recurrent miscarriages and to evaluate the effect of thyroid antibodies on abortion in the first trimester of pregnancy . After statistical analysis and comparison, a significant increase in the concentration of thyroid stimulating hormone was found in the study group (P≤ 0.05) and the study also found a non-significant increase in the concentration of ft4 ( P = 0.391 ) and an insignificant increase in the concentration of ft3( P = 0.628) in the two groups.

Additionally, the results revealed a non-significant increase for globulin antibodies and a significant increase for ANTI-TPO (0.05) and APL (0.01) in comparison to the control group . The study noted that the mean of abortion was lower for women with thyroid disorders (N=51) compared with women with autoimmune diseases(N=49) at a significant difference (P≤0.01). And the concentration of thyroid antibodies was higher in pregnant women with autoimmune diseases compared to the thyroid disorders group, with a significant difference in favor of ANTI-TG (P≤ 0.05) and ANT-TPO, while thyroid stimulating hormone did not rise to a significant level (P=0.133).The study also included age and body mass index.
