A workshop for graduate students

The College of Science at Anbar University organized a scientific workshop entitled ((The Hirsch coefficient and how to calculate it)), for postgraduate students, presented by Professor Dr. Muhammad Abdel Karim Talak, a lecturer in the Department of Chemistry, in Ibn Sina Hall on Monday (March 4, 2024).

The workshop aims to introduce researchers and academics to the concept of the Hirsch coefficient, which is a measure to evaluate the scientific performance of a researcher or scientific journal, and depends on the number of research published by the researcher or journal and the number of citations it has obtained from other researchers. The lecturer also explained how to calculate the Hirsch coefficient using various sources such as Google Scholar, Scopus, and Web of Science.
The doctor explained the advantages and disadvantages of each source, and explained what the h-index is, which is another indicator that measures the number of papers that have received 10 or more citations.
