Summary on Geology Department

 

The Department of Applied Geology was opened in the academic year 2008-2009, and (40) male and female students were accepted as the first batch. The department aims to prepare specialized cadres in various geological fields, which include the fields of mineral and engineering investigations, investigation of oil and gas, the environment, and the study of landforms for various uses. The department was interested in introducing new academic vocabulary that suits the geological and mineral situation of Anbar Governorate.

 

The department's teaching staff consists of (16(Teachingly,)9) Some of them hold doctoral degreesfourWith the rank of professorAnd fivewith the rank of assistant professor, and (7) Holders of a master’s degree.

A seismic monitoring station was establishedAt Anbar UniversityANB1AndIt is affiliated with the University Seismic Monitoring Network, whose center is the Seismic Monitoring Laboratory at the University of Basra in 2017 and is under the responsibility of Eng. Osama Jassim Mohammed.

Then, a second seismic monitoring station was established in Al-Rutba districtANB2In 2023, with the support of Anbar Governorate and in cooperation with the Mayor of Rutba District and the Agriculture Division in the District.
