Iraq exposed to a severe heat wave (and fifteenth heat in the governorates of South Iraq)

The Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre at University of Anbar announced that Iraq on a date for a fiftieth heat wave. Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Jassam Mekhlif, Climate Expert at the Natural Resources Development Department at the Centre, stated the weather forecast for (10) hopefully days, starting from Monday, 12/8/2024, until Friday, 22/8/2024, as follows:

Temperature: Iraq will be exposed starting from Tuesday, 13/8/2024 to a heat wave in which the maximum temperature exceeds 50 degrees Celsius, especially in the southern region of the country, while the central region ranges (48-49) degrees Celsius, while the northern region has a maximum temperature of (43-44) degrees Celsius, and the length of the wave increases in the direction south in terms of the number of days as a result of the deepening of the Indian seasonal depression in the country, while the minimum temperature is high Comparatively.

Ultraviolet rays: It is noted that the quality of ultraviolet rays is also moderate in general Iraq for the next 10 days, ranging in value in (H-Index) in terms of risk level among (6-10).

Solar radiation: The amount of solar radiation for Monday, 12/8/2024 in Iraq ranges between 850-1000 watts/m2 as shown in the map.

Winds: In terms of direction and speed - the winds are west to northwest, with a speed ranging from 20-30 / hour, and their maximum speed in the southern region, specifically Basra, on Thursday and Friday, corresponding to (15-16/8/2024), reaches a speed of 50 km / h - while the rest of the Iraq regions are moderate in speed.
