Health and occupational safety in engineering laboratories

Within the activities of the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre / Human Resources Development Department, and in cooperation with the Continuing Education Centre at the Presidency of the University of Anbar, and under the direct supervision of the Director of the Centre, Prof. Dr. Ammar Hatem Kamel, the free training course tagged: (Health and Occupational Safety in Engineering Laboratories), which lasted for three days for the period -21-19/5/2024, was concluded on Tuesday, 21/5/2024, in the main hall of the Centre.

Prof. Dr. Ammar Hatem Kamel, Instructor Dr. Bashir Khalil Ibrahim, and Assistant Instructor Ahmed Ashour Enad lectured in the course, which included several important topics in the university laboratories sector for all scientific laboratories and engineering laboratories.

The first lecture: presented by Prof. Dr. Ammar Hatem Kamel, in which he talked about laboratory safety procedures and the methods used by researchers for their safety in laboratories, and also talked about the dangers of chemicals and safety guidelines in laboratories.

As for the second lecture, the teacher, Dr. Bashir Khalil Ibrahim, gave a full explanation of the safety objectives in laboratories and ways to prevent risks and avoid errors to maintain the safety of workers.

The third lecture: presented by Assistant Instructor Ahmed Ashour Inad, in which he talked about the physical hazards in laboratories and radioactive materials that may cause harm to workers, and also talked about the mechanical hazards that affect workers in the field of engineering laboratories.

        The course witnessed the presence of the centre’s researchers and a number of faculty and researchers from colleges and research centres at the university, and the course included some questions in the axes of laboratory safety in all its fields, and concluded with a test in the topics that were presented in the course for all participants.
