Iraq was exposed to two depressions and a new wave of rain

The Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre - University of Anbar announced the weather forecast for the coming days in Iraq.

The climate expert in the Natural Resources Development Department at the Centre, Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Jassam Mekhlif, stated that rainfall, starting from the night of Friday 22/3/2024, Iraq will be exposed to a Mediterranean depression at the beginning of its entry from western Iraq, and the depression will be highly effective in the northern and central region and accompanied by heavy rain and thunderstorms, while the southern region will have the impact of the depression of medium effectiveness.

On Saturday 23/3/2024, the rain will be concentrated on the northern and eastern side of the country, and then it will be limited to the northern part only.

On Sunday, 24/3/2024, the activity of the Mediterranean depression will be renewed after its merger with the Red Sea depression, and its entry will begin from the southwestern side of the country and deepen on southern Iraq, then expand to the central region, and it will be more heavy for rain and thunderstorms in the southeastern parts of the country.

The wave will continue until Monday, 25/3/2024, when the concentration of rain will be on the southeastern and northeastern side of the country and will continue until mid-afternoon, and then the country will be dominated by an air rise, so the depression will recede and the control of the air altitude will continue until Friday, and it is expected that the country will enter after it with a rainy situation that begins next Friday night.
