Rainfall statistics of 2023

The Planning and Databases Department declared the latest statistics related to rain in the autumn of 2023, with the winter season approaching on December 21, as the rainy season in Iraq extends from autumn to the end of spring, that is, the months from October to May.

Statistics showed that the amount of rain in Ramadi station in November amounted to 9.6 mm, which is less than the average rain for the period (1988-2019) in the same month, i.e. November, compared to the highest amount of rain in the same month recorded in 2012 and amounted to 56.35 mm, while the lowest amount of rain recorded in October was in 1998 and amounted to 0.01 mm.

In a modern station (the terminal station of the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre), a rainfall of 14.45 mm was recorded in November, which is lower than the average for the period from (1988-2019) compared to the highest amount recorded during the same period of 87.67 mm in 1994 and the lowest recorded amount of 0.03 mm recorded in 1998.

Statistics indicated that so far, by the end of October and November, the rainfall rate is lower than the average, and statistics will be released on the amounts of rain, the number of rainy days and their distributions in the next coming days.

It is worth mentioning that the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre - University of Anbar, through the Planning and Databases Department, issues bulletins with statistics and data recorded within the directions of the center and the University of Anbar in studying climate change and supporting researchers and graduate students to achieve the university's vision to achieve the goals of sustainable development and Vision 2030.
