(In a new achievement) Connecting the hydrological station of the UEBDC to the Internet

Within the centre's plans to expand accessible databases for researchers, those interested and community service as part of the university's directions and strategic plan to achieve Vision 2030 for achieving sustainable development goals, including Goal (13) related to climate action, the staffs of the Planning and Databases Department succeeded in activating and linking the hydrological station of the centre to the Internet. Researchers, postgraduate students and those interested in weather and climate affairs can view and follow the meteorology in the city of Ramadi through the (Weather Link) mobile application, which includes iPhone and Android devices. Dr. Haitham Abdul Mohsen Afen from the Planning and Databases Department said that this step is important and necessary to complete the station's connection to international meteorological networks, which will enable researchers and those interested to view the data of other stations worldwide, which provides data to study climate changes and the extent of their impact globally and compare these changes in Iraq and the region with the rest of the world.

Variables recorded by the plant include rainfall, evaporation, temperatures (maximum and minimum), wind speed, relative humidity, dust, solar radiation and many others.

The data available from the station enables researchers in the fields of renewable energies to determine the possibilities of investing wind energies as well as solar energy, which is what the Planning and Databases Department is currently working on, in cooperation with the Renewable Energy Research Centre, to issue monthly bulletins and reports on the amount and rates of wind and solar energy available for investment at the university and Anbar Governorate.
