Indicators and statistics of the Second International Scientific Conference on Water

The Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre at the University of Anbar, in cooperation with the Colleges of Engineering, Science and Basic Education in Haditha, held the Second International Scientific Conference on Water under the slogan ((Water between scarcity and sustainability)), on the occasion of the World Water Day for the period 15-16 / March / 2023, in the presence of a large official and academic led by the Ministers of Water Resources, and Industry and the Deputy Governor of Anbar for Technical Affairs.

In continuation of the Planning and Databases Department in providing statistics and databases for various scientific activities and in a way that serves sober scientific research through important scientific indicators, the department issued the following indicators and statistics for the conference:

-         The number of researchers participating in the conference reached 156 researchers representing 14 countries.

-         The number of research received by the conference is 82 researches, 52 research papers were accepted, with an acceptance rate of 65%.

-         The participating research was divided into four topics:

First: The axis of sustainable development of water resources 23 research out of a total of 52.

Second: Water Resources Management 15 research out of 52.

Third: Water Quality and Biodiversity 11 research out of 52.

Fourth: Modern technologies for water harvesting 3 research out of 52.

With a simple glance, it can be concluded that there is a significant decrease in the number of researches dealing with the subject of modern technologies for water harvesting, which indicates a decrease in the rate of interest of researchers in this vital and important topic, which is considered one of the most important topics in arid and semi-arid regions such as Iraq and the western region in particular, which requires attention to it and encouraging researchers, research centres and graduate students to develop ideas, methods and research on the subject.

The conference indicated the great interest of decision-makers at the highest levels to discuss the water problem with specialists from researchers and academics in research centers and Iraqi universities through the lecture of the Minister of Water Resources, the highest authority responsible for the water file in Iraq, as well as the Director General of Groundwater in the Ministry and representatives of the National Centre for Water Resources Management and international organizations specialized in water, and perhaps it is the first meeting at this level in an international scientific conference at the level of Iraqi universities.
