The first meeting of the Board of Directors of the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre

Today, Wednesday 16/11/2022, the first meeting of the Board of Directors of the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre for the academic year 2022-2023 was held in the meeting room of the Centre under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr Ammar Hatem Kamel, Director of the Center. The meeting discussed the topics on the agenda, which included preparations for the Second International Scientific Conference on Water in March 2023 and the need for wide participation by experts and researchers from the staff of water resources departments in the governorate to achieve the desired benefit through their participation with professors and researchers of Iraqi universities, The Council also discussed the mechanisms of cooperation with international research centres and approached the Presidency of the University regarding obtaining official approvals for scientific and research cooperation programs with these centres.

 The Council listened to a detailed explanation by the expert, Chief Engineer Ayad Abdel Azeez, Director of Irrigation and Reclamation Projects, and the Assistant Director General of the Department of Water Resources in Anbar regarding the water scarcity crisis and the possibility of forming research teams and exchanging information to carry out studies on addressing the effects of this crisis.

The Council hosted Assistant Professor Dr Nofal Adnan Sabry, representing the Laboratories Unit at the Centre, where he presented a summary on the completion of the first stage of the campaign to qualify laboratory equipment, during which twelve laboratory devices were rehabilitated and prepared for the launch of the second stage of this campaign.
