Upper Euphrates Basin Development Center participates in the second international conference on agricultural and irrigation facilities – Turkey

Prof. Dr. Isam Mohammed Abdulhameed, who currently leave at Ankara University represented the Upper Euphrates Basin Development Center in the International Conference on Agricultural Structures and Irrigation that took place at Turkish University of Dijla in Diyarbakir between 12-15/5/2022 which was entitled:

The 2nd International and 15th National Congress on Agricultural Structures and Irrigation, ICASI 2022

          The conference included 124 papers and attended by 65 foreign researchers from 26 countries. In addition, dozens of researchers and interested people in water management from various universities and Turkish state departments were present.

The conference witnessed a wonderful interaction and attractiveness of the researchers. The good management of conference activities and efforts made by the organizers had a significant impact on the success of that great scientific meeting. Dr. Essam Mohamed, former director of our center, took the opportunity to introduce our center in this international assembly. While, some universities have expressed their desire to invest in cooperative researches with our center. Besides, numerous researchers from different countries have expressed their desire to attend the second international water conference, which will take place in our university on the anniversary of the world water day between 22-23/3/2023.

During an intervention in the closing session of the conference, Dr. Isam pointed out that the shared rivers give birth to brotherly societies whose waters constitute the blood of their people. Dr. Isam conveyed the greetings of our great poet Al-Jawahiri to the people on the sources of Tigris, whose their university has its name:

I greeted your bank from afar, so greet me,    Oh Tigris of welfare, mother of orchards

The conference concluded with field visits to the sources of Tigris and many historical sites in the Turkish provinces of Diyarbakir and Mardin.
