Studies of Makhoul Dam project were completed

The proposed Makhul Dam represents a strategic project to manage the waters of the Tigris River and the Great Zab together and achieves a water reservoir of about three billion cubic meters that contributes to prevent flooding from areas that were flooded in 2019 and other years, It also contributes to the provision of a large water reservoir to benefit from it in the dry seasons, especially after increasing the number of dams in the countries of the sources of the Tigris and Euphrates.

The engineering advisory team from the Engineering Advisory Office of the College of Engineering - University of Anbar was able to prepare the study of the environmental influence of this dam and update the hydrological studies and economic feasibility of it with a record period using its expertise and capabilities in the use of technological development and the operation and development of sports and several models of dams and their facilities and geographic information systems and remote sensitivity and find alternatives and test more than one scenario to operate the dam and in a very short time by using the technology compared to studies over 20 years old. The advisory group from our university in the College of Engineering and the Upper Euphrates Basin Development Center from the preparation of these studies and discussed with the team of experts of the Ministry of Water Resources and the Ministry of Planning, which received a lot of praise and appreciation and proved the scientific competence of the university team and this important project was approved based on these studies.
