Under the guidance of The President of the University, Prof. Dr Mushtaq Talib Saleh Al-Nada, and Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr Muthanna Mohammed Awad Al-Esteem, within the scientific plan of the Renewable Energy Research Center (2020/2021), the Renewable Energy Research Center held the first workshop on Wednesday 14/10/2020 entitled “Plan to improve energy efficiency and conservation” with the presence of the deans of administrative faculties and the officials of the departments in our university.

Assistant Professor Dr Wissam Hashim Khalil, Director of the Centre, explained that the holding of the first workshop and the following workshops and meetings is complementary to the efforts of the presidency of the university for the energy efficiency, which was implemented in cooperation with government agencies in the effort to apply the mechanism of rationalizing electricity consumption in the government sector, intending to apply the necessary standards to raise the efficiency of electricity consumption in all existing government facilities and procedure for their application.

The director of the centre said in his lecture that "As much as we promote an idea of energy conservation within government institutions, this will have a positive impact on the optimal use of energy within these entities".

In this workshop, three procedures were proposed for applying:

Track 1: the technical path (which concerns the Department of Reconstruction and the Faculty of Engineering in its various departments). It aims to clarify the criteria for raising the efficiency of electricity consumption in all existing government facilities and procedure for their application.

Track 2: it is concerned with training programs that contribute to raising the capacity and qualification of competent human resources in government agencies

Track 3: The third track is concerned with spreading awareness about the importance of energy conservation and raising its efficiency through sustainable awareness programs and activities for our university members.
