Discussion of a Msc. thesis in the College of Education for Pure Sciences – Chemistry

On Thursday morning, corresponding to 23-6-2022, the student (Majid Karim Abed), the Department of Chemistry, discussed his thesis tagged ((Removal some environmental pollutants from aqueous solutions using some selected adsorbent surfaces). The thesis aimed to use some agricultural residues represented by the peels of the bitter melon plant. The residues resulting from petroleum extraction, represented by coke coal, were used in the preparation of activated charcoal, as well as the preparation of a new compound (chitosan bitter melon) and it was treated with nitric acid. ), chromium (Cr + 3) and lead (Pb + 2), which pose a threat to the environment. After extensive discussion by the committee members with the student on the subject of his thesis, the thesis was accepted under the supervision of ( Assist Prof. Dr. Muthana Muhammed Sirhan).
